Dr Serena Cottrell is a Director of Doctors Club Ltd.
Consultant Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Honorary Senior Lecturer, Year 3 Lead and Senior Tutor Faculty of Medicine, National Lead For Child and Young Person’s Advance Care Plan Collaborative, on the Executive Committee of the Resuscitation Council (UK); and previously Consultant in Paediatric ICU 2003-2009, Southampton Resuscitation Lead and Wessex Regional Sub-specialty Advisor for PICU. During role in PICU travelled all over the world retrieving sick and injured children for the military.
Currently divides her time equally between clinical shop floor work in the Paediatric Emergency Department in Portsmouth and education roles at the University of Southampton. Has created and implemented the Child and Young Person’s Advance Care Plan, initially in Wessex and currently used by 70% of children’s units in England and has been used as a template in South Africa for family centred care planning for children and young people with complex needs or at the end of life, set up a consultant resuscitation training program for over 450 consultants, and courses for medical and nursing students, parents, junior and senior medical staff, nurses and physiotherapists, as well as having set up the Southampton APLS course. Research and teaching publications on emergency paediatrics and resuscitation.
